Local School Employees Scheduled to Receive COVID-19 Vaccinations
Canfield, Ohio- More than 3,000 school employees from more than 30 local districts and education facilities will receive COVID-19 vaccinations late next week.
The Mahoning County Educational Service Center (MCESC) has been working diligently to coordinate between the board of health, districts, and Giant Eagle’s pharmacy division to make vaccines available for educators in the area as quickly as possible. Schools that have worked with the MCESC to coordinate vaccination efforts will be among the first in the state to vaccinate school staff.
“Our team has been working tirelessly to make this happen for our schools,” says Traci Hostetler, MCESC superintendent. “As with everything in this situation, things evolve quickly, and our team, as well as our contacts at local schools, have had to pivot and change plans at the drop of a hat. This collaboration has resulted in the opportunity for local schools to get vaccinated quickly, which will add another layer of protection for our staff and students.”
Each school has selected a partner to use for distribution and has already coordinated registration paperwork with MCESC. ONLY employees who have already registered to receive for the vaccine through their district can attend the clinics set up for next week. The deadline for employees to register has passed - no additional registrations can be submitted at this time.
Each district has been assigned a specific time period and location in which its employees can come receive the vaccine. Each school has communicated locations and times of the clinic in which their employees will be vaccinated.
It is imperative that individuals who have registered for a vaccine attend at the time and location they are appointed to, as each clinic receives only enough doses to vaccinate based on the paperwork that has already been submitted with the state. Only pre-registered employees will be vaccinated. Absolutely no walk-ins will be admitted.
