Mahoning County
Summer Enrichment Program
Through a contract with the Board of Developmental Disabilities, MCESC operates a six week summer program for 120 students with significant disabilities at the LeonardKirtzSchool. The program runs five (5) days per week, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from mid June to early August. The week containing July 4 is off. DD provides transportation for students living in MahoningCounty who qualify under the OEDI/COEDI process. Services include classroom supervision by a licensed teacher with IEP directed programming, use of the pool, functional recreational activities, Assistive Technology support, related services (Speech, OT and PT) in the classrooms on a consultation basis and full time nurses on site. Individual or small group therapy is provided (OT, PT, Speech) for an additional charge. Tuition is $500.
Families who participated in the program in prior years are given first opportunity to reserve a place, then enrollment is opened to others on a first come, first served basis. Families will be permitted to reserve a place prior to their IEP meeting and then confirm school sponsorship by June. Students not qualifying for Extended School Year support will then have the option for private pay.
