JL Francis Scholarship - Application Evaluation Rubric

J.L. FRANCIS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

I.                    Applicant Evaluation:

 

A.   Applicant must have a minimum of a 3.0 G.P.A.

                                                            1.      After meeting the minimum 3.0 G.P.A., all applicants will be evaluated based on their participation in school and community activities and a one page essay.

 

a.

School Activities:

Participation in activity or organization

Holding an office or chairmanship within the activity or organization

= 2 pts.

b.

Community Service: (based on level of involvement)

One time event

1-5 hours/month

6 or more hours/month

 

= 1 pt.

= 3 pts.

= 4 pts.

           

B.   If two students achieve the same point totals, the student with the highest G.P.A. will receive the scholarship.

C.   First Place Bank employees’ children are eligible for the scholarships, but will not receive preferential consideration.

 

II.                  Scholarship Selection Process:

 

A.   Complete application online and have school counselor submit transcript and recommendation letter to the Mahoning County Educational Service Center. Sandy Williams, 100 DeBartolo Place Ste 220, Boardman, OH 44512 by stated deadline.

B.   The Mahoning County Educational Service Center will tabulate each student’s points.

C.   A scholarship committee from the Mahoning County Education Service Center will review and award the scholarships.

D.   Selected applicant will be invited to attend a breakfast on Friday, April 27, 2012 along with their Principal, School Counselor and parents/guardian.
